CHANDIGARH, Feb 26: In a meeting of Punjab University authorities and agitating students of the University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS), the university authorities have reportedly accepted all demands of the students.A press release issued by the Students of Punjab University (SOPU) stated that the matter was resolved late this evening. The students had resumed their strike today by holding a dharna outside the office of the Vice-Chancellor to press for reservation of 80 per cent seats in the M. Pharma course for PU Pharmacy graduates and had threatened to go on a hunger strike from March 3, if their demands were not fulfilled.Following a meeting with the students, the university authorities had on Thursday agreed to declare 60 per cent of the seats as promotional seats for PU pharmacy graduates. The students, however, demanded that 80 per cent seats be reserved. Another demand that the PU authorities had not earlier acceded to was that exam results would be declared in 30 days, sources said.Annual day: About 250 foreign students studying in the PU and affiliated colleges will present cultural events from their respective countries at the Annual Function of Foreign Students on February 28, an official release said.Exhibition to mark Science DayThe Department of Physics, PU, is organising a science exhibition on February 28, to mark the Science Day celebrations, a press release stated. Meanwhile, about 200 NSS volunteers from nearly 20 PU affiliated colleges celebrated the Science Day today, a press release issued by the PU NSS Director C.L.
