LUDHIANA, Nov 2: Preliminary investigations into the accident in B R S Nagar caused by some low hanging live cables, in which over 100 school students had a providential escape, has found the maintenance staff guilty of negligence.
The report which was submitted to Punjab State Electricity Board Chief Engineer Kirpal Singh by inquiry officer of the Board today states that the maintenance staff which had carried out the repairs on a snapped cable two days ago had failed to set right the cable clearance. “Ideally, the area should have been cordoned off till the cables had been hoisted up. Obviously, the staff slipped,” said a senior PSEB official.
Over 100 school students had a narrow escape when the cables got entangled in a school bus and consequently smashed the window panes of the bus following it.
Meanwhile, according to PSEB chief Kirpal Singh, the department will be issuing show-cause notices to the erring employees by the end of this week after affixing the responsibility.
