CHANDIGARH, Nov 11: Six teams participated in the Chandigarh Inter-Bank Golf Tournament, played over 18 holes, at the Chandigarh Golf course today. Consisting of two participants each, teams from the Reserve Bank of India, the Punjab and Sind Bank, Punjab National Bank, Punjab Co-operatives Agro Development Bank, State Bank of India with the sixth team put up by the private banks of the city vied for top honours.

The Inter Bank team event was won by the Punjab and Sind Bank team comprising of S S Sawhney and S P Singh. The Reserve Bank of India’s team of K Vijayaraghavan and K S Bhullar finished as Runners-Up.

Amongst the individual events, the best gross was won by local golfer, S S Sawhney and Harpal Singh won the runners-up prize. The best nett prize was won by K S Bhullar, with T P Singh winning the runner-up prize.

The Lucky Partners competition was won by S P Singh and Arjan Bhandari. Runners-up were R K Rehani and G S Mangat. Stableford competition was won by K S Bedi, with Jasbir Singh being the runners-up. The Above 50 years nett prize was won by K Vijayraghavan and Sarabjit Singh finished second.

The consolation prize went to S S Bahniwal and the longest drive, measured on the par 5 second hole was that of S P Singh. The nearest to the pin, decided on the third hole, was won by K S Bhullar.

DS-21 in semis
Is Dev Samaj School-21 scored a thumping 37-6 win over Sacred Heart School-26 to enter the semifinal of the Central Board of Secondary Education Cluster XI basketball tournament at Dev Samaj School premises today.

Navneet with 15 points top scored for DS-21 while Shaveta (8) and Harpreet (6) also contributed to the score. Ravneet netted 4 points for the losers.In another match Bhavan Vidyalaya-27 got the better of Carmel Convent School-9, 22-12. Half time score of 9-3 was in favour of BV-27.

Ranjita (13) and Alpit (8) scored for the winners while Neha and Deepika got six and three points for Carmel Convent.

Sanjeev shines
Sanjeev’s knock of 45 runs helped Govt Model School-32 beat Shishu Niketan School-22 by 53 runs in under-14 section in the Chandigarh State Inter-School cricket tournament at St John’s High School-26, today.
Brief scores: GMSS-32: 135 in 18.2 overs (Sanjeev 45, Vikas 21, Rahul 4 for 18, Kunal 2 for 5); SNS-22: 82 in 17.3 overs (Balpreet 11, Krishna 11, Chetan 2 for 12, Sanjeev 2 for 16). GMSSS-42: 78 for 9 in 20 overs (Ravi 17, Arjun Talwar 2 for 3, Chaitanya Anand 2 for 11); St John’s-26: 79 in 7.1 overs (Gauhar Pruthi 30 n.o., Rajat Bhalla 27 n.o.).
