CHANDIGARH, JUNE 2: The labourers of the Haryana Forest Department today called off their two-day protest demonstration near the Chandigarh Housing Board roundabout.
The demonstration, which started yesterday, was called off after the employees presented a memorandum of their demands to the Commissioner, Haryana Forest Department.
The protesters had alleged that the department was corruption-ridden and illegal notices were being served to the employees.
Brijmohan Dhonger, president of the Van Vibhag Mazdoor Union, had alleged that, besides other discrepencies in the department, new saplings were not available and that the labourers were not receiving their salaries on time.
