It was a scene to watch when the thoroughbreds locked horns for the honours with the rain God ready to pour any time when the nine events 11th day and 10 events 12th day races became a thing of past on a cloudy August 29 and 30, respectively. The showers during the nights before the race days had no impact on the aspirants. Though the card was lengthy it did not frustrate the do-or die punters. Most of the favorites obliged. On the whole the day was profitable. To add to the punters joy the monsoon race track was commissioned.

Trainer H J Antia with a moderate string of charges managed to annex one-third of the keenly contested programme on Saturday through his Disney World (The Par Avion Plate), Love Symphony (Par Avion Plate, Div II), All Knight (The Golden Horde Plate). Other trainers who had the reasons to laugh were Bezan Chenoy (Treasurer and Rain Cloud) and Mansoor Shah (Little Champ and Heaven Can Wait).

Dancing Designs, who had set a course record in the 1000 mts race, could not stand thedistance of 1200 mts for The Her Majesty Trophy. Code Of Honour (C Rajendra Up) was installed the favourite. Little Champ caught the eyes at the bend and led others till the end. Jockey P Kamlesh job on the winner was highly commendable. Aged Code Of Honour managed to save the place money of his followers. Limited Edition was fully exploited by jockey R Shelar only to finish third. Disappointing Dancing Designs managed to be there on the board by claiming the fourth place.

Trainer Bezan Chenoy’s ward Treasurer annexed The Chaitanya Chakram Trophy with much ease. The opposition pitched against this Razeen-Treasure’s Nest produce was made to look mild with jockey Aslam Kader having decided to win the race. Having decided, Kader did his job on the bay colt to the perfection and romped home in style.

Curiosity was considered a good thing in the curtain raiser of the day. The Sir Bruce-Daisylea’s four-year-old daughter Curiosity was seen slow at the start, later busted with top speed but was caught unaware bythe better contender Desafinado, who ran good right from start to finish.

In The Par Avion Plate, Div I, favourite Disney World was a winner right from the word go. Love Symphony in the upper division of The Par Avion Plate and All Knight in The golden Horde Plate had their respective outings annexed without any trouble. In The Mansab Plate Heaven Can Wait almost stranded the entire opposition with her great speed and reached home 4 3/4 lengths ahead of others. Classic Fortune was the runner-up. Superbo finished fourth but was disqualified for weighing-in less than the alloted weight.

The thriller of day was staged in the concluding event, The Jaandaar Plate when lesser expected Rain Cloud fought a ding-dong battle with Lovers Day and Genuine. Later, Lovers Day gave up to Genuine, who finished very close a neck behind Rain Cloud in one of the rare finish. The result of race was suppose to decide the fate of jackpot pool hunters. Just before the results came through the dividends for the fourth leg of 2ndjackpot consolation was Rs 201 on 395 tickets. The fate of jackpot followers were shattered after the photo-finish verdict was spelled in favour of Rain Cloud and the 70% dividend sky-rocketed to an whopping amount of Rs 37,071 on 5 tickets.

The Western India Owner’s Trophy, the feature on Sunday, was brilliantly won by Master Of the Rolls. The bay colt from Riajuana-Tajniak, Master Of the Rolls who trounced his opposition last time repeated his winning performance this time out. For Favourite First One Home everything went right only till the bend. Her followers were high in the sky but had to crash down after Master Of the Rolls took up the running. To add salt to injury, Regal Equity came from no where and ran past First One Home thus pushing her back to the third berth.

The main supporting event of the day, The Sub-Area Commander’s Trophy, was at the mercy of Imperial Call and Crown Quest. At the end Crown Quest gave way to favourite Imperial Call (Bajrang Singh Up) only after fighting a tough battle.It was heartening to note that after several runs Crown Quest had worked hard to be back in form.

Punters were spared of their homework for picking up their fancies in The Tricumdas Dwarkadas Trophy. My Solitaire, who was an impressive victor last time out, was entrusted the job of carrying the public purse. Realising his responsibility jockey P Shroff displayed all his skills to romp home the Jains-owned 3-year-old filly.

Star Spangled was the hot cake available on-money. She was quoted not more than 30/100 in the ring. Least expected Monkey Tricks upseted the calculations of one and all and was 1/2 a length ahead of the hot favourite. Incidentally, it was Monkey Tricks second successive victory of the season.

Fury tried a start-to-finish tactics in the lower division of The Falarani Plate only to unnecessarily exhaust half way through and finished a poor fourth. Rank outsider Nicholas with young apprentice P S Chouhan on claimed the event with heavily backed Golden Glitter finishing second.

Severalpromising youngsters lined up for The Reprint Trophy, the terms affair for 3-years-old. Seattle Song-Proceed To Go’s bay gelding Winning Hand was backed heavily with confidence by the punters. He as expected showed his good foot work and was there at the wire 1 1/2 lenghts of his next best Waves Of Beauty. Kabul and Konarko had to be contended with third and fourth berth respectively.

Decked Up was all decked up for a bold show in The Memoires Plate, Div I. Noblest Motive was chasing the leader all the way came up smartly at the end and locked together with Decked Up. Finally, verdict was pronounced with the help of camera in favour of the former. Decked Up had to be satisfied with the runner up berth. Am Capable and Majesty Of Law was their on board in that order.

Well Timed Move responded readily to the last minute urge of jockey B Prakash and trounced Top Model. Camera was called-in to separate Chief Surgeon and Winter Princess and their places on the board were in the same order asabove.
