PATIALA, June 1: Eminent Sikh historian Prof Harbans Singh who died on Saturday was cremated with full state honours here today. The funeral at Rajpura road cremation grounds was largely attended. Nirpinder Singh, son of the deceased, lit the funeral pyre.Public Works Minister Harmel Singh laid a wreath on the body on behalf of the state government, deputy commissioner Viswajeet Khanna on behalf of Chief Minister P.S. Badal, and additional deputy commissioner on behalf of Medical Education Minister Maheshinder Singh Grewal. SGPC Chief G.S. Tohra laid a wreath on behalf of the Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee.Among others who laid wreaths on the body were vice-chancellor Dr Joginder Singh Puar.Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board Chairman Jasdev Singh Sandhu, former vice-chancellor Dr H K Manmohan Singh, Punjab Languages Department Director M.L. Hasija and former administrative member of Punjab State Electricity Board, S.P.S. Mann.The bhog ceremony will be held at Gurudwara Bahadurgarh on June 7 from 12.30 pm to 2.30 pm.
