CHENNAI, Oct 2: The Chennai traffic police has joined hands with private agencies to help regulate the traffic in the city. About 50 security personnel called City Traffic Volunteers, sponsored by a private trust and a business enterprise can be seen on the roads assisting the traffic policemen in carrying out their duties. The traffic corps has also approached some multinationals to rope in some sponsors for more volunteers. The volunteers are trained in traffic rules, road discipline and behaviour before being pressed into service.
