Besides, the economy was anticipated to see around 60,000 new jobs in September.

The rise in employment numbers was partially due to return to payrolls of about 45,000 telecommunications workers who were on strike in August.

“In September, job gains occurred in professional and business services, health care and construction,” the Labor Department said in a statement.

The encouraging employment figures comes amid rising concerns that the world’s largest economy could see prolonged economic slowdown and even recession.
