FIA race director Charlie Whiting has given two thumbs up to the Buddh International Circuit BIC,the venue of the inaugural Indian Grand Prix, saying that it has exceeded expectations.

At the homologation of the 5.14-km circuit in Greater Noida on Thursday,Whiting was joined by Indian motorsports federation chief Vicky Chandhok.

He Whiting stated that the progress was more than satisfactory and exceeded expectations from when he last visited the site, Chandhok said in a statement.

Whiting is said to have recommended a few minor changes in the track and he will be back for the final approval of the track a week before the race, which will be held on October 30.

Physical issuance of Grade-1 certification will happen one week prior to the event,as a common practice for new circuits, Chandhok added.

Last week,Indian F1 drivers Karun Chandhok and Narain Karthikeyan also praised the track, saying that there were more overtaking opportunities at the BIC with its wide corners, undulations and long straights, where the cars could even touch 320km/h.

Meanwhile, tickets for the Indian GP are now available off line as well,at select Cafe Coffee Day outlets in Gurgaon,Mumbai,New Delhi and Kolkata, and Mercedes-Benz dealerships in Bangalore,Mumbai and New Delhi.
