A new Future Tours Programme Agreement for the 2012-2020 period,which will incorporate rules and regulations of the Test and ODI leagues,will come up for discussion in the ICC Chief Executives’ Committee meeting on Tuesday. The Chief Executives and their respective FTP managers will work towards implementing the new FTP and the Test and ODI leagues.

Haider to reveal names

Pakistan stumper Zulqarnain Haider has said he will reveal the identity of the people in the country’s cricket set-up who took bribes. Soon after his announcement on the Facebook page,his family filed a police complaint after getting threatening calls from an unknown caller. Miffed by negative remarks about him by Pakistan’s one-day captain Shahid Afridi,manager Intikhab Alam and the PCB legal advisor Tafazzul Rizvi,Haider wrote that those talking negative should wait for five more days and he will expose them.

Chelsea slip,Spurs beat Reds

Chelsea surrendered Premier League lead they held since the opening day of the season with a 1-1 draw at Newcastle on Sunday,while Tottenham came from a goal down to beat Liverpool 2-1 and help mark a new scoring record. After Chelsea conceded a sixth-minute opener to Andy Carroll and needed an equaliser from Salomon Kalou in first-half injury time to avoid a third straight league defeat,Tottenham’s fifth winning comeback of the season meant that all 20 Premier League sides scored over the same weekend for the first time. Chelsea has now taken just four of the last available 15 points and trails new leader Manchester United by two points. Tottenham rose to fifth place,a point behind City.

Inter thrash Parma 5-2

MILAN: Dejan Stankovic hit a hat trick as Inter Milan ended a run of four Serie A games without a win to beat Parma 5-2 on Sunday. Hernan Crespo gave Parma an early lead against one of his former clubs,but Inter was soon 3-1 ahead thanks to two goals from Stankovic and another from Esteban Cambiasso.

Karlsson wins in Dubai

Sweden’s Robert Karlsson won the Dubai World Championship Sunday,beating third-round leader Ian Poulter in a two-way playoff after a bizarre blunder by the Englishman on the final hole. Karlsson calmly rolled in a birdie putt on the second playoff hole after Poulter had been given a one-stroke penalty for dropping his ball on his marker on the green,causing it to flip over and move from its original position. The former top-ranked European said this was one of the biggest victories of his long career and one of the most lucrative. He earned $1.25 million with the win.

Lahiri tied 21st in King’s Cup

Anirban Lahiri was the lone Indian to break par with a three-under 69 to be tied 21st in the King’s Cup golf. Lahiri ended with a total of two-under 286. Himmat Rai was the next best-placed Indian at tied 30th after an even-par 72 in the final round for an overall total of 288. Amardeep Malik (77) and Firoz Ali (74) shared the 49th position with totals of six-over 294. Thailand’s Udorn Duangdecha fired a sparkling six-under 66 for a four-day total of 12-under 276 to win his maiden Asian Tour title.

Marquez defends title

Juan Manuel Marquez of Mexico successfully defended his WBA and WBO lightweight titles,stopping Australia’s Michael Katsidis at 2:14 of the ninth round at MGM Grand Garden Arena. Referee Kenny Bayless halted the bout after Katsidis was hurt by several combinations. After eight rounds,the three judges had the 37-year-old Marquez leading,78-74,76-75,77-74.

Asian Games cueists honoured

Cueists Pankaj Advani,Alok Kumar and Yasin Merchant,among others,were honoured at a felicitation programme organised by the Billiards & Snooker Federation of India (BSFI) and Karnataka State Billiards Association (KSBA). Advani was awarded a cheque of Rs 1.5 lakh for winning the billiards gold at the Asian Games; Aditya Mehta,Brijesh Damani and Yasin Merchant got Rs 75,000 for securing silver in the snooker team event while Aditya Mehta (snooker singles) and Alok Kumar (8 ball pool) got Rs 25,000 each for bronze.
