Olympic leaders have reallocated two individual medals stripped from Marion Jones but withheld the 100-metre gold from disgraced Greek sprinter Katerina Thanou. The International Olympic Committee executive board acted on Wednesday on medals taken from Jones for doping at the 2000 Sydney Games. But the board denied Thanou the 100 gold because she was involved in a drug scandal at the 2004 Athens Games. Pauline Davis-Thompson of the Bahamas goes from silver to gold in the 200. Russias Tatyana Kotova moves from fourth to bronze in the long jump.

Ten-man India lose to Maldives

A 10-man Indian football team were simply outplayed by holders Maldives 2-0 in their final Group A match of the SAFF Championships in Dhaka. Already through to the semi-finals,the Indian under-23 side started without regular skipper Sushil Kumar Singh and goalkeeper Arindam Bhattacharya and found the Maldivians too strong. Balwant Singh was sent off in the 60th minute after his second yellow.

Gawli,Naik fit,say Dempo

Mahesh Gawli and Samir Naik,who were advised rest for a month by their team doctor,and subsequently suspended by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) for missing the national camp,have been declared fit and can resume training from December 8. Dempo Sports Club coach Armando Colaco has written to the AIFF asking it if the two could joni the camp. The AIFF is scheduled to take a decision on the two players as well as Dempo before the Federation Cup starts later this month.

Meenakshi in half-point lead

The race for the national championship title and an Olympiad berth is on between WGM Meenakshi Subbaraman and IM D Harika,with Meenakshi ahead by half a point. Meenakshi leads the table with seven points while Harika is on 6.5. Candidate Master Bhakti Kulkarni of Goa has jumped into the third spot with 5.5 points.

Saaniya,Sharmila on top

Saaniya Sharma shot a six-over 78 to join Sharmila Nicollet in the lead after the second round of the 3rd leg of the womens professional golf tour in Chandigarh. Sharmila shot an 81 but was in the joint lead at 159. Overnight leader Nalini Singh Siwach slipped to the third place,one stroke behind.
