Ronjan Sodhi matched his personal best by shooting 194 in the double trap event at the ISSF World Cup in Minsk on Tuesday, but had to be content with a silver medal after Hu Bunyan of China shattered the Indians world record. Sodhi scored 49 in the final round but missed out on the top spot as Hu aggregated 196 to win gold. Russian Fokeev Vitaly claimed the third spot with a score of 190. It was a very tough final. I had an average opening in the first round but a strong performance in the second and third rounds meant that both Hu and I had a chance to win gold. I did my best, but Hu was just fantastic today, Sodhi told The Indian Express from Minsk. However,Ronjan felt that he was peaking at the right time and was hopeful doing better in the World Cup at San Marino next week. The 29-year-old shooter from Patiala is currently training under Serra Fino, who hails from the same country. It was a good start to the season. Next week I will be in San Marino. Italian shooters are among the worlds best and they will be tough to beat. My coach is from San Marino and I hope it will help, said Sodhi, who missed out a quota berth for Beijing Olympics last year despite winning a gold medal in the Belgrade World Cup. He has put the disappointment behind. Right now,our focus is on the Commonwealth and Asian Games and we are working hard on it.
