Saudi prince close to a deal with Liverpool co-owner

Saudi royal Prince Faisal al-Saud has said that he is 'close' to concluding a deal with Liverpool co-owner George Gillett.

Saudi royal Prince Faisal al-Saud has said that he is “close” to concluding a deal with Liverpool co-owner George Gillett.

According to The Telegraph,Gillet arrived in Riyadh on Tuesday night for talks with Prince Faisal,ostensibly on the subject of setting up branded academies in the Middle East and north Africa,as well as continuing discussions over the sale of part or all of Gillett”s 50 per cent holding in the club.

“Our negotiations to buy shares in Liverpool are ongoing. Meetings are taking place and we might be in the final stages in the coming days,” Prince Faisal said.

Tom Hicks,Gillett”s partner at Anfield,appeared to give his blessing to Gillett departing should he receive a suitable offer by agreeing to forego his right to veto any attempt to sell out.
