Rs 22 lakh fraud? Police summon Lalit Modi

The police summoned Lalit Modi for recording a statement on a complaint that he had allegedly misused Rs 22 lakh from the Association's fund for his personal use.

The police on Saturday summoned President of Rajasthan Cricket Association Lalit Modi for recording a statement on a complaint that he had allegedly misused Rs 22 lakh from the Association’s fund for his personal use.

Modi’s counsel Mehmood Abadi said Jyoti Nagar police served the notice to the BCCI Vice-President and the RCA President in his office at the Swai Madho Singh stadium in Jaipur.

Modi has denied the charge of misuse of RCA money.

When contacted,SHO of Jyoti Nagar police station Lakhan Singh said the police served the notice on Modi summoning him to record his statement itself on the complaint by Samajwadi Party leader and general secretary of Jaipur district cricket Association Anil Shekhawat.

Asked if Modi would be arrested if he does not turn up at the police station Singh said he would not be arrested.

Shekhawat,in his complaint filed on January 20,alleged Modi had misappropriated the funds under ‘TV rights subsidy’ provided by BCCI during the West Indies match in the World Cup,2007,match.
