Players unhappy,TTFI not to renew Kucharski’s contract

The Polish coach was appointed by the TTFI last October and under his stewardship,youngsters Ankita Das and Soumyajit Ghosh made it to London Games.

However India’s best bet Achanta Sharath Kamal failed to qualify for his third consecutive Olympics — something which is being considered as failure on foreign coach’s part.

Choudhary,however,refused to divulge any further details about the appointment of next coach and whether he will be of foreign origin.

The general secretary,meanwhile,appreciated Soumyajit’s effort at the Olympics,but he was critical about Ankita.

“The way Soumyajit played was really appreciable. He beat a higher ranked player in the first round. Though,he lost in the second round,he played extremely well against the Korean. It was his first exposure at the big stage and he did perform well. He is a promising player and I am really happy with his performance,” Choudhary said.

Asked about Ankita’s first round exit,Choudhary said,”Ankita could have played better.”
