The US warned that North Korea's bad behavior will no longer be rewarded following its recent nuclear test.

The US warned on Thursday that North Korea’s bad behavior will no longer be rewarded following its recent nuclear test,and tensions flared further as a North Korean patrol boat intruded into South Korean-claimed waters,officials said.

The patrol boat was apparently chasing away Chinese fishing boats during the competitive crabbing season. But many worry that a routine intrusion in the disputed waters could quickly erupt into a deadly clash because of high tensions after the North’s recent nuclear and missile tests.

The area was the scene of deadly naval skirmishes in 1999 and 2002.

Complicating the situation,two American journalists where to go on trial today in North Korea’s top court on charges of entering the country illegally and engaging in “hostile acts.”

Pyongyang’s official Korean Central News Agency said in a brief dispatch the trial would begin at 3 pm (0600 GMT),but there were no further details as that time passed.

Some experts believe the North is using the trial and its nuclear and missile tests to strengthen its position in possible talks with the United States,and that it hopes to win concessions or much-needed economic aid.
