Michelle blooms as Barack sinks in popularity stakes

The US First Lady Michelle Obama’s popularity seems to be growing day by day.

The US First Lady Michelle Obama’s popularity is growing day by day with American appreciating her far better than President Barack Obama,according to Quinnipiac University national poll.

According to the New York Post,the poll shows the president’s job approval rating dropped to 44 per cent approve,and 48 per cent disapprove,a new low for Obama’s net score. Nearly half,49 per cent,have a favorable opinion of him while 45 per cent view him unfavourably.

However,Americans’ opinion of Michelle Obama climbed to 55 per cent favourable,19 per cent unfavorable from 50 per cent and 17 per cent in November 2008.

She scored an 82 per cent favorable rating among Democrats,with only 4 percent viewing her unfavorably.

Independents give her a 19 per cent – 52 per cent favorable rating. Republicans,however,generally view her negatively and therefore,30 percent of them voted in favour of Michelle while 37 per cent were unfavorable.

The poll has a margin of error of 2.1 percentage points.
