In the wake of a recent incident involving a Sikh teen whose hair was cropped off while he was asleep at a training camp,Sikh temples in Malaysia will now be allowed to send their religious teachers to country’s National Service training camps which have 15 Sikh trainees or more,a top official has said.
NS Department director-general Abdul Hadi Awang Kechi said the decision was made after a meeting with the Malaysian Gurdwara Council here on Saturday.
Abdul Hadi said the NS Department would not bear the cost of such initiatives if there were less than 15 Sikh trainees in the camp.
“Under such circumstances,if parents want to bear the cost of sending a religious teacher,we will not object,” he was quoted by national news agency Bernama as saying.
