JK Rowling ‘most influential woman in UK’

Britain's leading magazine editors have judged her more powerful than Queen Elizabeth II.

Child wizard Harry Potter’s creator JK Rowling has been named the most influential woman in Britain by leading magazine editors who have judged her more powerful than Queen Elizabeth II.

The 45-year-old writer,who has won global fame with her series of popular children’s books about the child wizard,topped the list compiled by editors from the National Magazine Company,which publishes 20 magazines in Britain.

Rowling has been chosen for her writing skills,tenacity to succeed and philanthropic nature,the National Magazine Company said.

Pop star-turned fashion designer Victoria Beckham was the runner-up with the British Queen bagging third position on the list of 100 most influential women in Britain,’The Daily Telegraph’ reported’.

Other celebrities on the list include Cheryl Cole British PM David Cameron’s wife Samantha and Kate Moss.

The list was compiled to mark the centenary of the National Magazine Company which currently publishes 20 magazines,including Good Housekeeping,Country Living,Men’s Health,Harper’s Bazaar,Esquire and Cosmopolitan.

“This list of the 100 most influential women in the UK today,as voted for by our editors,truly reflects the diversity and cross section of the brands that make up the NatMag portfolio.

“The UK is home to an incredible amount of inspirational women and we are lucky enough to have worked with a significant number of them through our various publications over the years,” Arnaud de Puyfontaine,chief executive of the National Magazine Company,said.
