Both Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Daredevils are fresh from convincing wins in their previous fixtures. Delhi,after losing six on the trot,finally got some direction. And David Miller injected some inspiration into struggling Punjab batting.
Their wins were different in nature,but the result would have done a world of good to their confidence. Delhi were finding it difficult to get going and Virender Sehwag provided a much-needed impetus. They performed really well with their backs to the wall,and showed they are not out of it yet.
Sehwag8217;s return to form and Sir Viv Richards entry into the dressing room will boost their chances of staying in contention for the play-offs.
Punjab,on the other hand,pulled off a thrilling high-scorer against Pune Warriors. They displayed a clinical effort with the bat,but skipper Adam Gilchrist8217;s form still remains a worry.
The left-hander is struggling big time and finding it difficult to make a move. Will the team management replace struggling Gilchrist with Shaun Marsh? The think-tank will have to give some thought to the struggle at top of the order.
The Sehwag effect
Sehwag8217;s return to form guarantees some fireworks at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium in New Delhi today. The right-hander is looking good and has solved their opening miseries to a certain extent. Mahela Jayawardene opened in the last game to counter Lasith Malinga8217;s slinging toe-crushers,but will David Warner re-join Sehwag at top today?
Awana8217;s homecoming
Seamer Parvinder Awana will bowl to players he shares the dressing room with. Virender Sehwag,Unmukt Chand if he plays,Parvinder Awana and Ashish Nehra play for the same state. Sehwag will know a thing or two about Awana,and interesting battle cards today.
Warner is due
After a good start,Warner has turned quiet and hasn8217;t got runs under his belt. Will the aggressive south paw get inspired by Sehwag8217;s knock and emulate the same at Kotla today?
