Paul Collingwood may not be available for Delhi Daredevils in the inaugural Champions League starting on October 8 after picking up a buttock injury in the Champions Trophy.

England coach Andy Flower said Collingwood will undergo a scan on the muscle injury he sustained during the semifinal loss to Australia when he returns to England. “We have a contract with the IPL about making our players available, however Collingwood has picked up a little niggle in his buttock. He’s going back to England with us and will have a scan. A proper assessment and decision will be made,” said Flower.

“It’s a genuine injury. We don’t know how bad it is but he definitely did something when he played one of his first pull shots on Friday against Australia. He actually struggled through the game. It’s not in any way trying to get him rest,” he added.

Earlier,South African AB de Villiers had also been asked to pull out of the event by CSA.
