Indian-Malaysian man’s unique way of thanking god

An Indian-Malaysian travel agent will be seen pulling a mini-chariot with the idol of Hindu deity Madhurai Veeran through the streets of George Town the coming weekend.

This,M Rajendran says,is his way of thanking god.

He prayed for divine intervention when doctors told him last year that only his wife or his unborn baby would live due to complications during delivery.

I did not know what to do when the doctors told me to choose between saving the life of my wife or my baby, he told Malaysia Star.

I could only turn to Lord Muruga for help at that difficult moment. I made a vow to pull a mini chariot for Thaipusam (festival) if both of them lived, he said.

Rajendran got his wish as both his wife and baby girl miraculously survived.

To fulfil his vow,Rajendran,38,will be pulling a 4.8m high by 4.8m long chariot for Thaipusam this weekend.

Also helping to pull the chariot with him will be despatch clerk R Muralitharan,22,and lorry driver M Baskaran,32. Both of them made similar vows for well-being of close relatives.
