Harbhajan fined for abusing Suman

The intemperate language used by the bowler has been punished

Feisty Mumbai Indians spinner Harbhajan Singh has been fined $15,000 for abusing Deccan Chargers batsman Tirumalasetti Suman in last night’s IPL match in Mumbai.

Suman made a mess of a Harbhajan full toss and lobbed it back to the pumped-up off-spinner who took the catch to complete the dismissal before giving a piece of his mind to the departing batsman.

IPL chief executive Sundar Raman said Match Referee Gundappa Viswanath found Harbhajan guilty of level 1 offence and fined him $15,000.

“Harbhajan fined $15K by the referee. Found guilty – level 1 offence,” Sundar Raman wrote on his twitter page.

The fine notwithstanding,it was a memorable outing for Harbhajan who blasted an 18-ball 49 and then returned to claim three for 31.

His all-round performance was enough to win the Man of the Match award.
