President of the suspended Indian Hockey Federation (IHF),KPS Gill, said on Saturday that he was ready to cooperate with the Indian Olympic Association (IOA)-backed Hockey India but stressed that control of the newly formed body to govern the sport in the country should rest with the state hockey associations. Gill said he has also invited Hockey India to a meeting of various state units of the IHF to be held in the Capital on Sunday. We dont want confrontation with Hockey India because the continued rift has adversely affected the game, he was quoted as saying in an IHF release. I am prepared to cooperate with anybody. I am confident that in tomorrows meeting,we will be able to reach some understanding with Hockey India, he said. Gill also took a dig at Indias poor performance in the junior world cup. Its sad that India who finished runners-up in 1997 and winner in 2001,will now play for the ninth place, he said.
