Fire at Marriott hotel in Pak 5 months after bombing

Fire broke out at the Marriott Hotel in Islamabad on Thursday,five months after a suicide truck bomber killed 55 people there.

Several people were feared injured in a major fire that broke out at the luxury Marriott Hotel in the capital,five months after it was devastated by a suicide attack.

Paramedics were seen removing the injured from the hotel and rushing them to near by hospitals.

The cause of the fire that reportedly broke out at the kitchen could not be immediately ascertained.

Firefighters were tackling the blaze,witnesses said,adding that large plumes of smoke were seen billowing from a section of the second floor of the hotel,which is frequented by businessmen,diplomats and top politicians.

More than 50 people were killed and several injured in the attack that took place on September 20 last year at the hotel.

The hotel reopened in December last year after repairs following the attack.
