Dropping Uthappa cost us: Raina

Raina rued the fact that his team dropped Uthappa twice

After being butchered by Robin Uthappa in their IPL tie,Chennai Super Kings skipper Suresh Raina today conceded that dropping the Karnataka batsman twice was the turning point of the match.

Uthappa blasted a blistering 68 to help Royal Challenger Bangalore post 171 for five after being dropped twice in his 38-ball innings by the butter-fingered Chennai fielders here.

Uthappa was first dropped at the score of 5 by R Aswin at deep cover and later Murali Vijay missed a simple catch at long on,when he was at 25.

8220;Robin batted really well but we dropped two catches of his 8211; that made the difference,8221; Raina said after the match.

Uthappa8217;s blitzkrieg and R Vinay Kumar8217;s four-wicket haul helped RCB beat CSK by 36 runs in the Indian Premiere League here today.

Raina said that the last two defeats have laid bare their batting weakness and they have to really work hard to bounce back from here on.

8220;We didn8217;t bat well in the middle. We have to work on batting, two games we haven8217;t chased well and we also need to think about batting line-up. Hopefully we will do well in the next game. We have to work hard in the practice,8221; he added.

8220;I am really proud of the way we played today. No matter what you have strategy you have outside the field,I am really pleased how we are executing our plans on the field,8221; he added.

8220;We just wanted to make sure we had wickets in the end so that we can go after bowling in the end. The wicket was bit difficult to bat on. It had some spongy bounce, you needed to get set before you went after the bowling,8221; Uthappa said.

8220;Everything went according to plan. The team environment has been phenomenal. Anil has brought the boys together really well and the internationals have really helped the atmosphere,8221; he added.
