As IPL-3 comes to its penultimate lap,the race for semi-final spots has made the teams push harder on the accelerator. After looking nearly unbeatable initially, the Delhi Daredevils have hit a rough patch and have been left struggling, surrendering three straight games to their opponents. With just two matches to go and the most consistent side from the first two seasons still unsure about a semi-final spot, skipper Gautam Gambhir believes it wasnt always bad for a team to get into such situations where one need to win every game.
You can just go out there and express yourself because you dont have another chance of being complacent so sometimes it becomes a blessing in disguise. We have seen that with Deccan Chargers. So hopefully we can win the next two games and end up getting into the semi-finals, Gambhir said after Delhi Daredevilss defeat against Mumbai Indians at Brabourne Stadium on Tuesday.
As Delhi Daredevils try to find quick solution to their defeats,Gambhir wants one of his batters to bat for long. David Warner and Virender Sehwag have got their teams to off to flashy starts, but they havent managed to really see their team through.
We want someone to bat through and it just didnt happen. So we have ended up in a situation where we are now where we need to win both the games and try and play to the best of your ability now. This has been the case in the last three games for us, explained the Indian opener. It was off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwins three wickets with the new-ball that had turned things around for Chennai and the rest of their bowlers had ensured that the Knight Riders never recovered. And with the likes of Suresh Raina and Murali Vijay in destructive form,Gambhirs worries may just be mounting yet.
