Zhang’s superior,a woman surnamed Yu,said Zhang’s 20 days’ absence from work in one month aroused dissatisfaction from her shift partner, who had to do double her amount of work, according to a report in the Beijing News today.

Zhang agreed to leave, but has expressed a wish to continue wearing her uniform for stage performances.

“I was a street sweeper when I attracted audiences’ attention, but now I am not anymore. I want to show my colleagues that everyone can have a dream,” Zhang added.

She hopes to find a job which can both support her financially and give her the opportunity to practise her skill.
