Four bids for telecast rights

Four companies,ESPN Star Sports (ESS),Multi Screen Media (Sony),Bennett & Coleman (BCCL) and a consortium involving TV-18 and Reliance have submitted their bids to BCCI for broadcast,internet and mobile rights in India for a period of six years starting from July 2012 till March 2018. According to BCCI sources,among the four prominent companies,BCCL is only likely to bid for the mobile and internet rights after having procured the same for the Indian Premier League.

Pandit removed from CIC

Former India wicketkeeper Chandrakant Pandit is to lose his post as chairman of the Cricket Improvement Committee of the Mumbai Cricket Association,following his decision to become the director of coaching at the Rajasthan CA. The decision to remove Pandit from his post was taken by the MCA’s managing committee at its meeting,which was chaired by its president Vilasrao Deshmukh. Majority of members felt that it was not ethical on his part to hold similar positions in two parallel associations.

Mathews returns to squad

All-rounder Angelo Mathews has returned from a calf injury to join the Sri Lanka squad for the final Test against England but he will not be available to bowl. Also Injured pacer Chanaka Welegedara has been replaced by Shaminda Eranga.

Squad: Mahela Jayawardene (captain),Tillakaratne Dilshan,Lahiru Thirimanne,Kumar Sangakkara,Thilan Samaraweera,Dinesh Chandimal,Angelo Mathews,Prasanna Jayawardene,Rangana Herath,Suraj Randiv,Suranga Lakmal,Dhammika Prasad,Shaminda Eranga,Tharanga Paranavitana.

Tendulkar joins MI camp

Skipper Sachin Tendulkar on Saturday joined Mumbai Indians’ conditioning camp for the IPL campaign at their home ground,the Wankhede stadium. Tendulkar went to London on a brief visit for medical consultation about his injured toe and was cleared to play the two-month long tournament. MI’s campaign opener is scheduled against Chennai Super Kings at the M A Chidambaram Stadium on April 4.
