New Delhi: Champions League Commissioner Lalit Modi on Wednesday said this year’s edition of the Twenty20 tournament will start on September 10 even though he did not disclose the venue. “Champions League 2010 dates are finalised as Sep 10-Sep 26 this year,” Modi said on his Twitter page. He said the dates were finalised according to vacant slot in the Future Tours Programme. The event,however,clashes with Pakistan’s ODI series against England,besides the English county season.

Haddin,Watson rested

Melbourne: The Australian selectors rested Brad Haddin and Shane Watson for the next two ODIs against the West Indies,with Tim Paine and Adam Voges taking their place in the squad. “After a busy summer the NSP has taken the opportunity to manage the workloads of Brad Haddin and Shane Watson for the next two matches.” CA’s national selection panel said in a statement.

Chappell declines Pak offer

Melbourne: Greg Chappell has turned down an offer to coach Pakistan’s cricket team.

“Wasim Bari (PCB’s COO ) rang me yesterday. I was honoured by the approach but I have declined the invitation,” Chappell told Cricinfo. “I have no ambition to coach and I am committed to my role with CA as Head Coach at the Centre of Excellence and Chairman of our National Youth Selection Panel,” he said.

Miandad threatens to quit

Karachi: Javed Miandad has threatened to quit his post as PCB director general. In a letter to PCB chief patron Asif Ali Zardari,he said: “If I am not given due respect that I deserve as a former captain and a loyal servant of Pakistan cricket. If I am not given assignments,work and authority according to my position and experience,then it is better I leave the board,” Miandad wrote.

No stake in King’s XI: Honda

New Delhi: Two-wheeler giants and IPL associate sponsors Hero Honda rubbished media reports,which claimed that they have bought stake in IPL franchise King’s XI Punjab. “The media reports about Hero Honda buying stake in Kings XI Punjab is completely baseless and untrue,” Hero Honda said in a statement.
