Ahead of a crisis talk on Thursday between West Indies Cricket Board and West Indian Players Association (WIPA) to try and break an impasse which relates to pay and IPL issues,all-rounder Dwayne Bravo said he is in a dilemma which one to choose between England tour and lucrative Twenty20 league.
Bravo said WICB failed to consult WIPA when agreeing to the England tour starting in May. Ironically, the West Indies replaced Sri Lanka who opted out of the series to allow its players to take part in the IPL. There are five West Indies players, including captain
Chris Gayle,Shivnarine Chanderpaul,Ramnaresh Sarwan and Bravo, who have signed IPL contracts. IPL runs from April 18 to May 24 while West Indies first Test against England starts on May 6 at Lords.
The WICB went on and signed that tour without letting WIPA know anything about the tour, Bravo said. We signed our contract to go and represent our IPL team, now we are in a position where we have to choose whether to go and play IPL for the first six weeks or go to England. It is a tricky situation, he was quoted as saying by Daily Telegraph.
Oram considering IPL pull-out
Wellington: New Zealand all-rounder Jacob Oram says he will pull out of the IPL if a nagging Achilles tendon strain prevents him from playing the domestic state championship final on April 6. I can understand people thinking Im cotton-wooling myself but Ill definitely take myself out (of the IPL) if I dont get through the final, Oram told The Dominion Post.
