BCCI chief confident of taking Indian cricket higher

Hit by Modigate,BCCI chief Manohar said the year had been a mixed bag.

The BCCI has weathered the storm triggered by the financial scandal that rocked the Indian Premier League earlier this year,Board President Shashank Manohar said on Wednesday.

“The Board has weathered several storms during the year and I am happy to say that the entire Board stood as one unit and supported the decisions taken by the office-bearers,” said Manohar in his annual message to Board members.

“I am sure we will come out stronger and pursue our goal to take Indian cricket to greater heights,” he has written in the Board’s annual report for 2009-10.

Terming the year under review a mixed bag of results on the cricket field,Manohar hailed batting icon Sachin Tendulkar for having completed two decades in international cricket and becoming the first men’s player to score a double hundred in ODI history.

“The year under review has been a mixed bag in terms of the achievements of our teams in international tournaments. The Indian team performed consistently well in Tests to attain the top position in ICC Test rankings.

“A not-so-consistent performance in One Day Internationals saw our position fluctuate between second and third place in ODI rankings,” he said.

“Our performance in the ICC T20 World Cup has not been up to the mark yet again. The womem’s team,however,reached the semi-finals of the ICC T20 World Cup,” he noted.
