Mohinder Amarnath agreed on Friday to fill the last vacancy in the IPL governing council,a day after former India skippers Mansur Ali Pataudi and Sunil Gavaskar refused to work in honourary capacity and opted against taking the offer.
Mohinder Amarnath, former India Test cricketer…has been inducted into the IPL Governing Council. He and Ravi Shastri will be the two international cricketers in the GC. The term of the same will be one year, the BCCI said in a statement.
The Governing Council includes former first-class cricketer-turned-administrators Anurag Thakur and Ranjeeb Biswal, along with BCCI members Arun Jaitley,Rajiv Shukla and Ajay Shirke.
I have given my consent to the BCCI about joining the IPL governing council. Neither I am ecstatic nor indifferent. I have always been honest and sincere in whatever I have done. I would be very happy if I can contribute my bit towards trying ensuring that cricket remains a clean game. I dont believe that anyone can tarnish the image of the game, Amarnath said.
