Defending Champion N Abdul Majeed,P K Arjun from Kerala,Cheniram Pegu from Assam and Malleswar Rao from Andhra Pradesh will be among 100 renowned chess players who are all set to participate in the five-day long All India Open Chess Tournament from March 3.
The tournament will be held under CAI Chess Carnival 2012 programme.
Speaking to reporters here,P T Ummer Koya,Chairman,Organising Committee and former FIDE Vice-President,informed the tournament carries a prize money of Rs 1 lakh.
FIDE rated players,including A N K Jose,K Chandramohan,K Mohanan,Dheerendrakumar Das,Anirban Basu and Calicut University Champion N K Anwar are also expected to take part,he said.
International Arbiter K Ratnakumar would be the Chief Arbiter for the tournament,Koya said.
