Abbas not legitimate representative of Palestinians: Lieberman

The incumbent right-wing leader Avigdor Lieberman hit back questioning Mahmoud Abbas' legitimacy as leader of Palestinians.

Angry over Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas8217; suggestion that Israeli opposition leader Tzipi Livni should be made the Foreign Minister, the incumbent right-wing leader Avigdor Lieberman on Monday hit back questioning his legitimacy as leader of Palestinians.

8220;We signed an agreement with the Palestinian Authority. We signed it with the authority which represents all the Palestinians. Today you have Fatahland in Judea and Samaria and Hamastan in Gaza. Who exactly is Abbas representing ? Half a nation at best,8221; Lieberman told Israel Radio.

8220;Abu Mazen is not really legitimate leader, and this is why he has offered a new demand,or advice,to replace Lieberman with Tzipi Livni,8221; the hawkish leader of right-wing Yisreal Beteinu party said.

Lieberman argued that the Palestinian President8217;s advice and recent demands from the Israeli government emanates from his waning control over his masses.

8220;I definitely view this piece of advice as a great blessing. His demand to halt construction in the settlements is only an expression of his distress and inability,8221; he said.

8220;As Abu Mazen8217;s authority or legitimacy deteriorates or declines,he raises his demands and toughens his position,8221; Lieberman said.
