KURUKSHETRA, Sept 17: A rare kind of pre-election euphoria was witnessed among the party ranks of Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), including the party supremo, Om Prakash Chautala, as they addressed an impressive gathering here today. Organised by the Haryana Backward Cell of INLD, today’s rally unfolded many hidden emotions of speakers who did not forget to address Om Prakash Chautala as the “future Chief Minister of Haryana”.

Desperately trying to project himself as the only alternative Chief Minister, Chautala, time and again talked of his father, Devi Lal and his strenuous efforts to uplift the poor and landless farmers of the state.

Apparently targeting women voters in the state, Chautala resolved to extend 33 per cent reservation for the women in the next assembly elections.

Terming Haryana Chief Minister Bansi Lal as the murderer of democracy, Chautala called upon the masses to assemble and uproot his dictatorial rule. Expressing grave concern over the spiralling vegetable prices, he lamented that be it the consumer, the farmer or the trader everybody wanted to get rid of this government.

Chautala, while speaking about the expulsion of Haryana PWD Minister, Dharamvir Yadav, expressed astonishment at Bansi Lal’s silence over Yadav’s allegations. Quoting the example of late Punjab Chief Minister, Pratap Singh Kairon, Chautala challenged Bansi Lal to initiate an independent inquiry against himself, to prove Yadav’s charges false. Chautala ridiculed the state government’s decision to close down mustard oil mills, in the name of dropsy cases. He blamed the government for creating a “confused environment” for the farmers who wanted to sell their prepared mustard yield to these mills.

Chautala said the BJP was taking “political advantage” in the name of Lord Rama. He ridiculed the strange political pact between Mulayam Singh Yadav and Laloo Prasad Yadav which he said was banking upon the name of Lord Krishna to achieve their political goals.

The mood was upbeat from the word go at the backward cell’s rally. Kailasho Devi, highlighted Devi Lal’s achievements and asked party workers to reach Rewari on September 25 to celebrate his the 85th birthday.
