Bangalore, Oct 26: German left-hander Andy Fahlke turned Hungarian Zoltan Boroczky's world upside down as he pulled off a three-set win in the first round of the Wearhouse ITF Satellite tennis tournament at the Century Club courts on Monday.Fahlke, after losing the first set, steadied himself considerably against the grunting Hungarian. He carved out a 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 victory that puts him against the winner of the first round match between top seed Prahlad Srinath and Marian Leysek of Slovakia.Earlier, there were three upsets, with the fifth seeded Patrick Erhardt being the highest ranked player to bow out.India's Saurav Panja, seeded sixth, also had to taste defeat when British qualifier Mike Boulding ousted him in straight sets 6-3, 6-2. Boulding's next opponent is the left-handed Pune player, Nitin Kirtane, a 6-2, 6-3 winner over SB Keerthi. However, there was excellent news for Indians, and particularly the locals, as Sreenivasan Praveen Kumar took just 70 minutes in dispatching seventh seededTimo Nigri.Praveen started off on a false note when he dropped the opening game of the match much to the dismay of the small gathering at the Century Club. But the Karnataka player came roaring back and broke the seventh seeded German on three successive serves to race to a 5-1 lead. However, Praveen suffered a minor lapse in concentration and dropped the seventh game. The German player then went on to hold his serve to reduce the deficit to 3-5 before Praveen pulled up his socks and eked out a 6-3 win in 40 minutes.Nigri was broken twice in the second set, in the first and third games as Praveen careered away to 6-2 win in just 30 minutes. Praveen next plays Harsh Mankad who was a comfortable 6-2, 6-4 winner over Ravikiran Bhat.Mumbai player Mustafa Ghouse was in irresistible form in the first set of his match against the fifth seeded Erhardt. The latter managed to hold serve just once as Ghouse waltzed to a 6-1 win in the first set. The second was far more competitive with the players tradingthree breaks apiece. But Ghouse, certainly the steadier of the two players on the day, took the tie break 8-6.ResultsSandeep Kirtane (Ind) bt Rishi Sridhar (Ind) 6-3, 6-2; Zaman Sanzaruz (Ind) bt Kamala Kannan (Ind) 7-6 (7-4), 6-1; Ondrej Chvapil (Cze) bt Anjan Viplav (Ind) 6-4, 6-7 (7-5), 6-3; Vijendra Laad (Ind) bt Vijay Kannan (Ind) 7-6 (7-5), 6-2; Vinod Sridhar (Ind) bt Andrew Ford (Britain) 6-1, 6-1; Mike Boulding (Britain) bt Saurav Panja (Ind) 6-3, 6-2; Harsh Mankad (Ind) bt Ravikiran Bhat (Ind) 6-2, 6-4; Danai Udomchoke (Thai) bt Vasudeva Reddy (Ind) 6-4, 4-6, 6-3; Nitin Kirtane (Ind) bt SB Keerthi (Ind) 6-2, 6-3; Mustafa Ghouse (Ind) bt Patrick Erhardt (Ger) 6-1, 7-6 (8-6); S Praveen Kumar (Ind) bt Timo Nigri (Ger) 6-3, 6-2; Andy Fahlke (Ger) bt Zoltan Boroczky (Hungary) 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.
