Farmers from various parts of the state have been invited to take part in a two-week “Specialised poultry training course” to be organised by the Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Extension of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), starting tomorrow.
Experts from the College of Veterinary Science will deliver their lectures on various aspects of poultry farming. The farmers will be educated on proper planning with regard to land, funds and availability of loans etc at the camp.
The farmers will be trained to differentiate between healthy and sick birds even as the role of regular vaccination, and de-worming and hygiene in prevention of diseases would be emphasised.
Eexperts from a bank and an insurance company will also deliver their lectures regarding rules and facilities provided by them. A visit to the poultry farm will also be undertaken. Dr R.S. Sahota, head of the department of veterinary and animal husbandry extension, said that this training programme would be useful for the farmers wanting to venture into poultry farming as well as to those already engaged in the poultry farming.
