
VADODARA, July 13: To create awareness about the increasing number of cases of rapes and sexual harassment, various social and women’s organisations organised a poster exhibition and distributed pamphlets near the Mahatma Gandhi Nagar Gruh on Monday evening.
Posters like Till when will you keep silent, it could even be your daughter’s turn’ and Snap ties with the rapists’, attracted the maximum attention.
According to Rita Choksi of Sahiyar’, a women’s organisation, a meeting has been convened on Thursday at the Sardar Bhuvan, near Jubilee Garden at 4 pm to chalk out future course of action. Those interested can attend the meeting.
The pamphlets which were distributed included details about the problems women had to undergo once she reported that she has been raped. The trauma which she had to undergo along with her family was also highlighted.
It said that till women were given due respect in the family and the society, the society would continue to face several problems.
The citizens have been asked to give reactions to the pamphlets at Sahiyar on 473482, Mahila Samakhya on 474916 or Adhikar Prapti Kendra on 411512.
