Punjab Deputy CM Designate Rajinder Kaur Bhattal along with some of her supporters today attended a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Amarinder Singh for the first time after they raised a banner of revolt against him more than a month ago.
The meeting, called to chalk out the preparations for the proposed visit of Congress chief Sonia Gandhi to Bathinda on January 15, witnessed besides Bhattal, participation by Higher Education Minister Harnam Dass Johar, Transport Minister Tej Prakash Singh and former minister Harbans Lal, all of whom had rebelled against the CM. This was the first meeting attended by all Congress legislators after the crisis was resolved.
Refuting certain media reports quoting Bhattal as saying that CM has no power to give powers, Amarinder said: ‘‘Bhattal said she had been misinterpreted.’’ ‘‘She is contemplating to give notices to certain newspapers for misquoting her,’’ he said.
