
PUNE, Aug 9: Defending champions Poona Club A’ defeated Turf Club by a comprehensive 3-0 margin in the second round billiards play at the 15th Inter-Club Billiards and Snooker championship organised by Hotel Le Meridien.
Playing on home tables in the morning session, team captain set the tone, defeating Bittoo Ahluwalia 300-177. Taking the issue even further was Maharashtra no. four Vignesh Sanghvi, who routed Yash Batliwala 300-74, while Sanjay Bajaj completed the clean sweep, taking Minaj Kassum 300-166.
Reserve player Neval Darukhanawala was the only loss on the side of Parsee Gymkhana A’, as he went down to Hirabaug A’ cueist Mukund Gadgil 153-300. Prem Farid and A Chitale, both with frames of 300, however, assured Parsee Gymkhana A’ a 2-1 win. In the third match of the session, Poona Club B’ swept past RSI A’ 3-0, after the latter’s Deepak Lamba failed to show up.
