Police solve8217; daylight robbery

The police were told that one of the robbers had a white spot in his left eye, and that all the men spoke in an Uttar Pradesh dialect. The four robbers had apparently fled toward Janata Colony in Welcome. A massive search was launched for the man with the white spot.

According to the police, a door-to-door survey revealed that a man with a similar description had been a regular visitor in gali no. 17 at Janata Colony. A trap was laid there and Javed was arrested.

He allegedly confessed to the police that he had masterminded the entire operation at the instance of jeweller Vishnu Agarwal, a Shahdara resident. Javed and his associates had identified three shops and then selected New Rama Jewelers.

Javed allegedly told the police that the jewels were handed over to Agarwal, who melted the gold, kept some with him and sold the rest to a third person. He was subsequently arrested. Two of Javed8217;s associates 8212; Salim and Guddu 8212; are currently in jail in connection with another robbery.
