NEW DELHI, July 12: The interrogation of Mohammed Salim Junaid, 26, an alleged member of the ISI-funded terrorist outfit Laskher-e-Toiba, led to the recovery of 1 kg of RDX and 30 live detonators from the house of his associate Mohammed Hassan, in a village near Dehradun on Friday night. Junaid was arrested by the Delhi police from Hyderabad on July 2.Investigations have revealed that Hassan and Junaid had planted a bomb in the reserved train compartment for Army personnel in the Dehradun Express on July 9, 1997.The bomb was, however, spotted by the Army personnel who threw it out minutes before it exploded. No one was hurt in the incident.Junaid himself had manufactured the bomb after smuggling explosives. After returning to Hyderabad, he sent RDX and some detonators in his truck to Hassan in Dehradun.The truck was seized from Junaid on July 2 after his arrest along with three others in Hyderabad. The 15 kg of RDX, a sophisticated detonation device, an electronic circuit for fabricating a carbomb, four 9 mm pistols, ammunition and magazines and three wireless sets, which were recovered, were also found hidden in the truck. The explosives were supposed to be used in a series of explosions in Hyderabad next month.When the Delhi Police team reached Mohammed Hassan's village in Barowala in Dehradun, they were told by his relatives that he had left for Saudi Arabia. But Hassan was tracked down at Doiwal village, also in Dehradun district, on Friday night, and brought to Delhi.Senior Crime Branch officials said that Junaid has also disclosed that he had supplied explosives to other members of Lashker-e-Toiba for carrying out the bomb blasts at Mumbai in February this year.
