CHENNAI, July 25: The Tamil Nadu state police on Saturday recorded the statement of advocate P Rathnavel, the complainant in the case registered against Health Minister Arcot N Veerasamy, and his brother and owner of `Seven Star Enterprises' N Devarajan in connection with the alleged `hoarding scam'.Sources said the recording of the advocate's statement went on for nearly two hours with the complainant explaining the details of his allegation besides pointing out the specific instances of `abuse of power'. He provided some documents and photographs claimed to be in support of his charges against the Minister and his brother.The sources said in the next one week the police would be busy collecting documents and records from departments like the Chennai Corporation, Chennai Collectorate, Highways, Health and TN State AIDS Cell which are directly or indirectly concerned with the case. A list of witnesses including the owners of some advertising agencies are also being prepared for examining them.Askedwhether the Minister and his brother too would be interrogated, the sources said: ``Definitely we will question them. First we have to record the statements of the witnesses and they have to be coroborated''. The Minister need not be summoned to the criminal investigation department office for recording his statement and this could be done even at his residence.
