The Bikaner police claim to have arrested a Pakistani agent. The arrest has revealed an intricate network of agents working for the Pakistani Army Intelligence on the other. Thirty-year-old Asghar Ali, living in a flat in Bikaner’s Rathkhana under the pseudonym of Vijay Sagar since May 2001, was arrested and brought to Jaipur yesterday.
Detailed charts of Army deployment and operations in Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana were recovered from him. He also had contacts in Chandigarh, Hissar, Bhatinda and Delhi to whom he disbursed a sum of Rs 4 lakh in the past two years. Documents recovered from him also included telephone numbers of his contacts in the Army.
According to Additional Director General of Police Arun Dugar, Ali, hailing from Sadiqabad in Punjab, Pakistan, had been assigned with transmitting classified information about the Army movement etc. He delivered the information over e-mail.
According to Dugar, Rajasthan police have arrested 11 Pakistan agents in past seven months. They are on the lookout for 76 other Pakistani nationals who came here on regular passports.
