
2 held for robbery
The Okhla police claim to have solved five cases of robbery and burglary with the arrest of two youths. Some other members of the gang are absconding. The police say the gang was notorious for robbing leather goods from several factories in the Okhla Industrial area, Phase III. The police zeroed in on two alleged members of the gang — Gopal and Vinod Kumar — following a tip-off.
1 accused of stealing car
PCR personnel patrolling the Rajouri Garden area on Saturday night arrested a car thief after chasing him for half an hour on the highway. The accused, Balbir Singh (40), reportedly stole a car from outside a nursing home in Rajouri Garden. The car owner, Harish Aggarwal, who is a resident of Paschim Vihar, had gone to the nursing home in the evening.
Illicit liquor recovered
The Badarpur police arrested four men on the charge of smuggling illicit liquor near the Delhi-Haryana border on Saturday night. The police have recovered 2,380 pouches and 432 quarter bottles of illicit liquor. Two of the accused, Gurdeep and Dheeraj, are residents of Delhi. The others, Amar Singh and Narender, are residents of Punjab and Haryana respectively. All of them are in their late twenties. They were reportedly ferrying the liquor inside two cars from a Trans-Yamuna godown to Haryana.
Copies of films seized
In a joint raid conducted by the Delhi Police and the Motion Picture Association (MPA) at Lajpat Rai Market in the walled city, officials recovered 1,703 video compact discs of Hollywood blockbusters. The seized material includes discs of Titanic, Mask Of Zorro, Armageddon, Dr Dolittle, Lethal Weapon 4 and Godzilla. According to officials of the MPA, Amit Rajpal, the proprietor of the shop Music Mahal, was also arrested from the premises during the raid.
Man found murdered
An unidentified man, in his twenties, was found bludgeoned to death near some bushes in the Okhla area on Thursday morning. Preliminary investigations have revealed that he had sustained critical injuries on his head, apparently inflicted with a heavy stone. The body has been sent for post-mortem and a case of murder has been registered.
3 held with narcotics
The Indraprastha Estate police on Wednesday arrested three youths — Amarjeet (24), Managa (19) and Balbir (25) — for trading in narcotics. The police recovered 81 kg of poppy husk from them.
