More than a year after the attack on Akshardham temple, the Gujarat Police today filed a chargesheet against 34 people. Altaf Mallik Hussain, Adam Ajmeri, Mohammed Salim, Abdul Kayyum, Abdullah Miyan Yasin and Chand Khan Pathan , who are under arrest, have been booked under POTA and the Arms Act.
The 1,750-page chargesheet, filed in the court of a special POTA judge, said the attack was a backlash of the post-Godhra violence.
The ISI and LeT planned the attack in Jeddah. People from Pakistan, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Kashmir were involved in the conspiracy.
Altaf Malik, a resident of Dariapur who went to Jeddah with Adam Ajmeri, his brother Rashid Ajmeri and others ‘‘provoked Muslims of Indian origin’’ in Jeddah by showing them videos of the post-Godhra riots. Adam, an autorickshaw driver in Ahmedabad, was the city connection while Rashid is a businessman in Jeddah. Rashid funded the operation.
The two terrorists who died in the attack, were sheltered by Abdul Kayum and Abdullah Miyan.
