The cell recorded the statements of chief accused sub-inspector Praveen Chaudhary, head constables Bavji Parmar and Narain Rathwa and constables Chhitu Rabari, Kuber Parmar and Chandu Rohit, all of whom were suspended on December 10, and filed the case in the Vadodara sessions court on February 4. A hearing is awaited.
The cell8217;s Deputy Superintendent of Police R M Rathod told Express Newsline that he had met the complainant, visited the scene of the alleged crime with her and sent her clothes for forensic testing. The results of the tests carried out on the alleged victim at SSG Hospital were awaited, he added.
The Shinor case hit the headlines around end-November, when the tribal woman, picked up on charges of kidnapping a boy, alleged she had been raped and tortured in custody. The woman, who is still facing the kidnapping charges, returned to her village a fortnight ago. Though an accused has recently been picked up from a village in neighbouring Maharashtra, senior police officials informed Express Newsline and withheld details saying that might hinder investigation.
