
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will meet various ministries tomorrow to chalk out a strategy for implementing the Bharat Nirman Programme. Under this, Rs 1,74,000 crore would be spent in four years on six crucial sectors of the rural economy.
The meeting will discuss the modalities of raising funds for rural irrigation, rural road development, water supply, rural housing, rural electrification and rural telecom connectivity, as well as how much will be allocated for each objective. Apart from Planning Commission deputy chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia and Finance Minister P. Chidambaram, ministers and officials from power, rural development, water resources etc are expected to attend this meet.
