PML leaders reject Nawaz Sharif’s directive

Following this rejection, the first serious effort by the PML-N top brass to enter into a deal with the GDA regarding restoration of democracy has been halted, at least for the time being, it said.

As it is the traditional anti-PPP leadership in the League has always opposed such moves and is not ready to negotiate with their arch political rivals even after the dismissal of the PML government by the military regime, the newspaper said.

The showdown took place on Monday when the central leadership came to know about the contents of Nawaz Sharif’s letter sent to convener of the party Central Coordination Committee (CCC), Raja Zafarul Haq. The letter had clear-cut directions for the party high command to enter into a one-point alliance with the GDA, the paper said, adding the contents of the letter were to be read in the meeting of special committee formed to explore possibilities of cooperation with other political parties.
